Autocross Rules

  1. ALL DRIVERS MUST BE MEMBERS OF THE BMW CLUB AND HAVE SIGNED THE ANNUAL WAIVER, CAR FORM, and ENTRY FORM.
  2. ALL PASSENGERS HAVE SIGNED THE WAIVER FORM.
  3. Participants can enter only one car and, if he/she elects to run a different car at one of the scoring runs, the run counts but the result is not scored. It is classed a DNS (did not start).
  4. No tire warming or practising on the parking lot or in the road in front of the parking lot.

PENALTIES:

  1. Touching a pylon/cone (pylon no longer centred over marker) is a 2-second penalty.
  2. Touching the 'End-Pylon' is a DNF (did not finish).
  3. Missing a gate or taking it in the wrong order is a DNF. (If you notice a missed gate/pylon but have not yet driven through the next gate/pylon, you can turn around and go through the 'missed' gate provided you: do not back up or go through any other gate to get back on route.)
  4. Reversing is a DNF.

GROUPS and CLASSIFICATION:

  1. SCCA PAX/RTP yields a car class factor, which is multiplied against best time.
  2. Car class is determined by the SCCA PAX/RTP index given a car's base class, preparation, modifications, tires, etc. See the index and car classification worksheets for more information.
  3. Organisers reserve the right to alter a car's classification within the competition year.

RUNS:

  1. The first run is practice, to help drivers become familiar with the course.
  2. Runs 2 through 5 count and yield a driver's best time for the day (cones penalties included).
  3. A participant arriving late or leaving early, may miss runs. Organisers reserve the right to limit runs. We discourage 'squeezing in' missed runs or last runs if one must leave early as it is unfair to competitors.
  4. Runs should be taken in sequence based on the assigned car number.
  5. Runs cannot be taken consecutively or back-to-back.

POINT SYSTEM:

Points given to each participant that remains a member in good standing. Points count from each event (i.e. no points are dropped). Points vary based on number of participants with first participant receiving 100 points. Second and subsequent person's score is their time divided into the first place finisher's time, multiplied by 100. The driver and passenger(s) must use their seatbelts and keep their hands and arms inside the vehicle while on the course. Windows must be at least half-way up or installed (in the case of fixed windows).
